When you sometimes listen to a song, did you ever wonder who the artist was and what the track name was.

Chris Barton and his friends had the same problem. They decided to solve this problem and started Shazam.

They built an app which would listen to a snippet of a song and will immediately show you the artist and album info. They struggled with so many setbacks but kept pushing ahead.

The idea looks trivial, but Apple bought this company for $400 million and the friends became multi-millionaires.

What you could learn from this episode:

  • How the four friends met
  • How they got the idea
  • How they figured out the name for their app
  • What they did when everyone said it was technically impossible.
  • How they figured out an out of the box solution.
